Come and hit me. This message is writ large in the tiny state of Kerala as it observes yet another hartal on 10th July, 2008. The Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi has asked even medical shops to down shutters and they are doing this just to get numbers for their state meeting. When the entire country has abandoned protests against allowing retails, here is an organisation that is reviving it. People buy essentials ahead of hartal-- naturally sales boom a day before hartal. Again vested interests??
There is a slight welcome change here. There is a synchronised hartal as one association - Kerala Vyapari Samithi- is holding a Trivandrum only hartal with an assembly march, the other one is spreading across the state.
