23rd July, 2008 - Yet another hartal in Kerala

A 12-hour hartal was called by the district unit of the BJP in Malampuzha constituency to protest against the death of one of their activists who was attacked allegedly by CPM workers.Altercations between CPM and the BJP activists arose last Sunday evening over the tying of flags by BJP activists. A BJP activist, Aruchami, 42, was attacked with weapons allegedly by CPM activists when he was returning to his house that night after attending the BJP Malampuzha mandalam convention. The sudden call for the hartal put the commuters in great hardship. Malampuzha is the constituency of Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan.
